Dear reader!
Some of you might know that I was working as a food courier with my bike in Budapest, from mid-february till the end of June. With this article I want to share my experiences during these months. But how it all started I’ve wanted to work something during the pandemic because online education and staying in my room all day was started to get boring. Then over the Christmas holiday my friend told me that if I’m a student I have to pay less taxes if I become a food courier. Then I even asked my flatmate at the time how these different firms work. After that I applied to both Foodpanda and Wolt to try out which one will work for me.
I can still remember my first delivery with Foodpanda, it was from a small coffee shop and I had to deliver to Vajdahunyad vára (The fake one in Budapest :D). As I got more confident I started to take night shifts and shifts in other districts and along the way I’ve started to like it more and more. After a bit I started to like Foodpanda more than Wolt so I used it more.
I had fun during this work and I even worked out. I have delivered to numerous addresses in the 1,5,6,7,8,9,10,11,12 and 13th and 14th districts. Once at an address there was noone in the whole building, just a bit of light and I had to look for the only home where there were people inside. I also delivered coffee to less than 100 away. I even tried out myself working in the rain. I could keep myself dry as long as I looked out for the puddles. I delivered to these universities ELTE,BME, BGE,KRE, NKE, SOTE and even to our oenology department: D Also to places national sport centers, hospitals, fire station and many more. I could tell you a lot of stories about the deliveries and most probably write a book on the inner gardens of Budapest, there are some pics attached. Also I had a song which I listed to at least once at every shift but and everytime It started the speaker run out of battery :D
To sum up, As I experienced, if you started to deliver in one direction the algorithm will give you an address in that direction. The difference for me between the two firms was that at Wolt I would get bigger distances and sometimes you have to wait more to get and address. It can be because at Foodpanda you get preserved shifts . Also the bag at Wolt is bigger so you have to take care when you turn not to kick something off. I had almost forgotten the best part: the chats with the other courier while we waited for pick up or the get and address and the random greetings or nods on the streets. Ahogy néhányan tudhatják február közepétől fogva Június végéig biciklis ételfutárkodtam erről osztanék meg néhány tapasztalatot veletek. Az egész ötlet onnan jött, hogy már a pandémia ideje alatt akartam valamit dolgozni mert az online oktatás nem a legérdekesebb dolog és az egyik barátom felvilágosított ha mellékállásban csinálom akkor kedvezőbb az adózás. Az akkori lakótársamat, aki már régebb óta ezt is dolgozza, megkérdeztem, hogy mik a tapasztalatai és így végül február közepén el is kezdtem dolgozni. Jelentkeztem mind a Wolthoz mind a FoodPandához. Még mindig emlékszem az első kiszállításomra ami egy kis kávézóból vittem ki étkeket a Vajdahunyad várába (A budapesti másolathoz csak, nem léptem határt). Ahogy egyre jobban belejöttem már az egyetemi órák után is mentek futárkdni illetve esti műszakokat is vállaltam, ez által más kerületeket is megismertem. Egy idő után már este is tekertem, leginkább Foodpandát használtam mert nekem jobban bejött.
Én nagyrészt élveztem mert egyidejüleg dolgoztam edzettem és még fizettek is érte. A munkám során a következő kerületekbe szállitottam ki,1., 5.,6,.7.,8.,9.,10.,11.,12.,13., és 14. Szinte az összes nagyobb egyetemre szállítottam ki kivéve a Corvinust bár lehet, hogy az egyik koli az hozzá tartozott. Még a borászati tanszékre is vittem ki ételt. Ezenkivűl még szállítottam a Nemzeti SportKözpontokhoz, laktanyába, Katasztrófavédelemhez és még sok minden más érdekes helyre. Persze sok sztorit tudnék leírni illetve egy könyvet írni a budapesti belső kertekről, néhány képet csatoltam. Volt egy dal amit minden műszakok alkalmával meghallgattam de amint elindítottam szinte mindig akkor merült le a hangfalom :D
Amit különbségként észre vettem, hogy a Woltnál ott nagyobb távolságokra dobott be illetve maga a táska is nagyobb ezért nehezebb vele forgolódni. Illetve a Foodpandánál előre foglalt műszakok vannak, így kevésbbé kell várni, hogy címet kaphasson az ember.
De a legjobban azt szerettem amikor másik futárokkal beszélgetünk éppen címre várva vagy, hogy megkapjuk a rendelést illetve a random egymásnak biccentéseket az utcán.

Nagyjából 800 km tekertem és 315 címre szállítottam ki ez időszak alatt.
